Default 600 monk and smiter gone?

with the new upgrade to spirit bond, u cant tank nearly as many eneimes now, 10 attacks come very quickly so i would think that using the 55/SS is now much faster havent tested it out but it seems that way to me. also i may have misread or missed something but did it change it so that monters arent running from AoE? the old solo 55 monk viable?? with balths aura and zealots?

As the other 5 billion posts all over Guru say, yes, Spirit Bond farming is gone.

nope it isn't gone, but it is if you don't know how to adapt lol,

and until everybody does, the farming will be more profitable

The whole purpose of Spirit Bond as opposed to 55 with Breeze/Mending is that you can aggro as huge number of enemies without being overwhelmed. Now that SB drops after 10 hits, this advantage is gone. You'd have to keep spamming the skill, and there's always a chance that you could be hit 10 times before you are able to recast it. I don't see 600 tanks being on par with 55 after this update.

True, but why one or the other? Be creative with your skills and you'll find a solution just like everybody will (for some sooner and others later )

Again, 55 seems like a better option now.

unless you're surrounded by foes attacking you, having 1-2 hits without SB, what's the matter? just recast it.

farming is not dead, it just got slowered

I'll list why SB is unsafe right now by itself (I said Unsafe, not impossible, I've farmed some stuff post-update, but not NEAR as fast, and not 100% success rate either).

1) Too Much Aggro and you are dead, just like 55's problem.

If you are fighting enough things to where they are doing more than 10 attacks against you in 2 secs...GG.

2) Getting SB interupted in anyway even once is almost game over because it'll be followed by 2+ seconds of the monsters just POUNDING on you with no healing, and remember it only takes 10 attacks to kill you under Prot Spirit.

And don't say its a 1/4 sec cast...The AI can interupt almost anything if it feels like it..And if there are knockdowns in the area you fighting and they time the knockdown to when you are going to use bond...Thats bad (This is easy to see in Warden farming)

3) The Ways you actually KILL the monster (SS, Visages+Famine, Retribution+Holy Wrath) all will cause the monsters to spread out and regen health now (and aggro the caster of the SS/Visage if they are close enough and feel like it), making the process slower and more unsafe now.

And YES I actually tested them, and YES even Sym and Ancestors Visage cuases them to spread out now (and go directly after me in my case )

I'm not one of the people screaming, "This is the end of farming!"

I do think that if Anet is opposed to farming, they should rework the way loot drops in this game. When you have a system that divides the same loot between X number of people, it's only logical that people will want to farm solo or in small groups. It would make a lot more sense if they just scaled drops with the number of people in the party. If they did, I'd spend a lot more time helping people with quests/missions and less time alone spamming spells on myself.

Precisely. 600 farming the most popular spots goes a bit slower now, but it can still be done.

The same is true for places like UW.

or the 'random' loot could get replaced with a system that makes sense like WoWs.

I agree with Effigy. The most effective way to get people to change their behavior is to alter the incentives. Strong-arming people into doing (or not doing) certain things is difficult and inefficient. Not to mention that because GW is an integrated game between PvE and PvP, competitive play suffers from skill balances that were intended to address PvE issues.

If Anet wanted to stop people from farming, they would have removed any incentive to farm. If you scale the loot drop per player, farming is no longer effective and nobody has any reason to do it.
